Telling the AI who I am

Authors

Sometimes I want LLMs to know a lot about me.

The spring upgrade to ChatGPT memory helps with this, but I want to go further.

So, I've made an "About Me" Google Doc. I add this to conversation or project context whenever I think it'll help (e.g. during my weekly review).

Here's the document outline:

How to make your own "About Me" doc

Ask o3 or Claude to interview you, using the prompt below:

I'd like to create a comprehensive "About Me" document that I can share with LLM-based AI assistants to get more personalized and relevant assistance. This will help the AI understand my background, goals, work style, and preferences. I've included a template with 14 sections below. Please help me fill it out by acting as a thoughtful interviewer. Here's how I'd like to work together: - Go section by section - Ask me targeted questions for each part - Make it conversational - Help me think through what's most important to include - Suggest content - When I share information, help me phrase it clearly and concisely - Keep it practical - Focus on details that will actually help LLMs assist me better If I have any existing documents (CV, personal website, recent plans and reviews), I'll share those and you can use them to ask more specific questions or to suggest content for the sections. The goal is to end up with a ~2000 word document that will enable AI assistants to help me more. We should probably write 2000-4000 words in our first draft, then edit down to ~2000 words at the end. Let's start with Section 1 (Basic Profile) and work our way through. Here's the template: --- ## User context document --- ### 1.
