This summer I’m running weekly dance events. A few recurring tasks are required, so obviously I’ve made a /salsa-event skill.
My chief of staff runs it automatically on Tuesdays. Without any action from me, it:
- Creates the event poster (modifying an existing template).
- Opens browser tabs and makes events on Facebook and the venue’s internal chat app.
- Posts messages to some Facebook Messenger groups.
- Sets Todoist reminders: message the venue owner on Thursday, promote again on Friday morning.
Steps (2) and (3) are configured to wait for my review before pressing send. Browser tabs open in the background—they don’t disturb my other work.
The marginal cost of making a skill like this is minutes-not-hours. The first time I had to do these tasks, I just asked the agent to do the things, gave feedback as we went, and asked it to make a skill at the end. You could also just do the tasks yourself, while recording your screen.
Whenever you face a recurring task, think “skill”.
