# Tell Gemini who you are

Unlike [ChatGPT](https://wow.pjh.is/journal/chatgpt-memory) and [Claude](https://wow.pjh.is/journal/claude-reference-past-chats), Gemini does not automatically "get to know you" over time.

So, I strongly recommend adding some "about me" information to the Gemini "[saved info](https://gemini.google.com/saved-info)" screen.

Some things I've told Gemini:

1. What I'm working on and why.
2. Response style preferences.
3. My core strengths, weaknesses and competencies (e.g. software development).
4. Abbreviations I often use (80K, T3A, IWR, etc.).
5. I have a MacBook and a Google Pixel phone.

My instruction for Gemini (drafted by Claude, based on its memory of me):

**Prompt**Peter wants direct, challenging, and disagreement-ready communication, values truth over comfort, and prefers depth to delicacy. He thinks analytically and is interested in trade-offs, opportunity costs, cost-benefit analysis, and strategic comparisons. Do not use flattery phrases like "great question" or "excellent point." Use sentence case for headings. Use British English and metric units.

I was unsure what Claude meant by "disagreement-ready", but it turns out to [mean something useful to Gemini](https://gemini.google.com/share/8ec613cefe80).
